A Market-Based Approach to Climate Change Mitigation
At the core of modern economic growth lies energy consumption, which is directly linked to carbon emissions. These emissions, primarily from burning fossil fuels, are the leading cause of global warming and climate change, posing significant risks to both the environment and human health. The increasing frequency of extreme weather events and rising cases of respiratory illnesses highlight the urgent need for society to address the & social cost of these carbon emissions.
To be precise the principal challenge to tackle is simple: the greater the carbon dioxide (C02) and other greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted, greater is the impact on global warming. Given this, the fundamental question becomes how to incentivize reductions in C02 and other greenhouse gas emissions without stifling economic growth. Economists, in response, have developed the concept of carbon markets, where the right to pollute is essentially turned into a tradable commodity. This approach ties environmental responsibility directly with economic incentives.
The Program is spaced for 40 days, that is just enough time to acquire advanced knowledge on the subject at one's own pace. Students will be awarded certificates after completion of all the study materials and successful evaluation.
